Primary Enrichment Programme

In order to support an effective and smooth transition, our aim is to develop outstanding working relationships with or local primary schools. Each year we offer a tailored bespoke programme that allows schools to complement and enhance their primary curriculum. Our core offer to identified schools is listed below: 

Year 4 & 5 Workshops  

Booked by individual primary schools on suitable dates throughout the year. Students are invited to experience workshops in selected subjects, sessions can be tailored towards the primary school curriculum / topics.  

Year 4 & 5 Curriculum lessons  

6 week block of 1 hour lessons booked by individual primary schools on suitable dates throughout the year. Delivered by our staff in a location that suits your needs, with a bespoke project designed to fit around your curriculum. Subject availability:

Assemblies  

Delivered by staff and students from The Oaks to students across all age ranges. Assemblies can cover key topics designed to support the primary personal development program. Suggested themes:

  • Staying active  

Staff Career Professional Development (CPD)

Subject specialist staff to deliver whole staff CPD to enhance teacher confidence in delivering areas of the curriculum outside of their comfort zone.

An invitation to staff  

Hosted by our student leaders from The Oaks, Headteachers and Year 5&6 staff are invited to visit the school. Session will include.  

  • A presentation by the student leaders on their primary transition and all about The Oaks  
  • Meeting with Peter Kingdom, Headteacher & Emily Abberley, transition lead, including a tour of the school  
  • Meet and greet with ex-students from your primary school  

Transition Events  

Year 6 Students who have been allocated a place at The Oaks will get to experience a range of activities in advance of starting in September.   

  • 2 transition days    
  • Transition meetings in primary school setting  
  • Primary picnic – identified students additional visit with SEND team
